Frequently Asked Questions

What is DNS propagation?
When you change a record, it must update across DNS servers worldwide. This process is called propagation, and this tool shows its status from several locations around the globe.
Why has my DNS change not applied everywhere yet?
Because the record is cached with its previous TTL; until it expires some servers still show the old value. It usually completes within a few hours, up to 48 hours.
Can I speed up propagation?
Before making a change, lower the record's TTL (e.g. 300 seconds); this makes subsequent changes propagate faster.
